Need of Trust & Collaboration In Project Teams For Project Management Success
The perseverance behind this paper is to study the effects of trust and collaboration in order to increase the likelihood of project management success rate. It was researched that the trust plays an vital role in the project management and it is clearly discussed in many of the findings from various research work done that many of the research has different results depending upon the size of sample taken.
Further in one of the journals discussed for this report a study of SEM or structural equation modelling based on findings of international survey of 151 projects to enlighten the project team trust team and collaboration in order to increase the likelihood of the PM success was done.
The outcomes of this result are expected to provide insight for the project practitioners in order to increase the likelihood of the PM success by taking into consideration the factors which influence the collaboration in trust.
This paper presents a unique perspective for the
investigation of the project practitioners in order to increase the likelihood
of PM success by encouraging the collaboration and trust in the project team.
This further illustrates the professionalism and integrity issues.
The constituents of the project constitutes with the measures of cost, time and quality which are further known as the “Iron triangle”. The Author proposes that these three important measures in the project success is for perceiving that the project meets the objectives or by analysing the cost and the schedule margin variations.
This is done by evaluating the Project management for the project’s economic, social and environmental impact which has been depicted as the most important factor for improving the PM outcomes. The most common factor in the findings of last five years was trust, it was seen that the trust affects the areas of reduced risk premium, increased market performance and the better client relationships.
It further leads
to lower project costs, project failures and improves the communication break
downs.
Analysis:
The study predicts that the level of trust predicts the degree of collaboration which in turn is responsible for the success of the project. Further when the practitioners promote the trust and collaboration in a project, it is a possible outcome that the project will be a success.
Moreover coordination between the stakeholders is a crucial for collaboration which will leads to PM success. The previous research indicates that for team integration practice is possible only with the help of strong relationship between trust and collaboration.
An example of mechanism for studying the level of trust and collaboration affects project management
Advantages of collaboration:
· Accumulation of the strengths: When members
of an organization collaborates they are able to share their knowledge
with each other, as such one member may
be good in one skill the other may be good in other so they can combine the
strength.
· Improvement of employee skill: The employee skills are improved and they are
taken to a next level when they are combined with each other so that they can learn
new ideas from each other and perform better.
· Speed up process: The problems when handled by the single individual usually take a lot of time and efforts, and when that particular work is done by a group of individuals, the problem is solved with a quick pan of time.
In order to analyse the response of the respondents a questionnaire was designed to assess the level of trust, degree of collaboration and the likelihood of the PM success which they were required to rate ten- point scale. The groups were chosen to fill in the questionnaire and rate the scale to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the organization.
Further the questionnaire was also sent to the 19 PM experts identified from literature to analyze the position. The data collected was found to be correct of only 151 responses were valid out of total of 270 international selected workers who are working on medium size projects in both government and private institutions.
The valid data set was analysed with the help of IBM SPSS
Statistics 22 and SEM component AMOS
Conclusion:
The results the hypothesis that the PM success is more likely as the degree of collaboration increases and the degree of collaboration increases as the level of trust in the project increases.
It was observed that the PM success is increased as the level of trust increases. Among the factors determined by the degree of collaboration, coordination had the most influence on the working of the project, it is so because the coordination and eagerness among the workers is a positive sign for the project management.
IT was further determined that the level of trust in a project is influenced by:
- The expectations that the project team are having of each other.
- The knowledge which is exchanged between them
- The degree of trust that is imported from other familiar settings.
In
terms of the collaboration it was found that are:
- The commitment team members share for the project.
- The agreement level on different topics, because less conflict is more useful towards collaboration.
- The degree of contribution each of the member is making in the project.
The overall review of the findings has explained that the quality of communication and the constructs are effecting the project management and its results, but it was found that the same research when conducted with a large sample size would be more accurate for realistic estimations and clear results and further research is being taken to monitor the relation between the quality of communication and the other factors. It was also depicted that the trust, collaboration and project management walk hand in hand.
The topic you have selected is very interesting and important for project prospective. Your study is well organized and helps the project managers to learn the importance of trust and relationship between team members. Managing a project team is not an easy task. But with the good faith and confidence among team members, manager's job becomes easy. Your study is a good source for the leaders and team members to learn the collaboration lessons. You have done a good job and I believe your research will inspire project managers to develop a working friendly atmosphere in order to achieve the project's success.
